Former Beatle Paul McCartney's childhood home sold

A mid-terrace house at 72 Western Avenue in Speke, the childhood home of British musician Paul McCartney, is pictured before its auction in Liverpool, Northern England on February 26, 2015 The childhood home of former Beatle Paul McCartney sold for £150,000 ($231,000, 206,000 euros) at an auction on Thursday in Liverpool, hometown of the legendary 1960s rock band. The sale was held at the rebuilt Cavern Club, the venue where The Beatles often played in their early career. "We are delighted to have sold such an iconic piece of The Beatles and Liverpool's history," said Andrew Brown, manager of Countrywide Property Auctions. McCartney moved into the house aged four with his parents Jim and Mary in 1947, and the family was well known in the area of Speke due to his mother's job as a midwife.
